About me

Yi-chun Sung

Lic.Ac., MBAcC, MA, BA

Hello, I’m Yi, also known as Fiona. I am a fully qualified and licensed acupuncturist and a member of The British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC).

My experience with acupuncture started when I was very little. Being born and raised in Taiwan where my father is a Chinese medical physician, I have relied on the Chinese medical approach to deal with most, if not all, my health conditions. My first memory about acupuncture is when my father laid me on a treatment bed and palpated my spine in order to locate the acupuncture points on my back when I was 6 years old.

Being brought up with such a deep cultivation of Chinese medicine, I have witnessed the power of it. Since I relocated to the UK, I especially feel the drive of learning this ancient therapy in order to benefit more people through my own hands.

I was awarded a licentiate, with First-Class Honours, at The City College of Acupuncture, a school accredited by The British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB).

The qualification includes a 3 years (3,500 hours) of acupuncture specific training at degree level and 400 clinical hours. I also regularly undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training to maintain and enhance my knowledge and skills.

Before hitting on my acupuncture journey, I had worked in film business after being awarded a MA degree from Goldsmiths College, The University of London.

What appeals me the most about Chinese medicine is that it treats the individual, not the label. That is to say, no two cases will be the same, and the practitioner needs to review and map all the clues from the full health history in order to get down to the root cause of one’s manifested main complaint.  Read more to know how it works.

My main interests lie in pain relief and women's health. I have helped patients with various health complaints, including sciatica, plantar fasciitis, IT band syndrome, frozen shoulder, chronic muscular pain and sport injuries; as well as headache, PMS, dysmenorrhoea, amenorrhoea, fatigue, stress, anxiety and digestive issues etc.

I enjoy helping patients to find their balance. I believe acupuncture is much more than medicine - it is a philosophy of well-being. The treatment is also a space for you to block all out and receive your own focus - and so the healing starts.

Please feel free to get in touch to discuss how acupuncture can benefit you. I would love to help you be the best version of you.
